Bologna process is the process of creation of the European Higher Education Area. The process started on June 19, 1999 when 29 European Ministers responsible for higher education signed the Bologna declaration in which they undertake to create a European Higher Education Area . Process convened in Leuven/Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, on April 28 and 29, 2009 to take stock of the achievements of the Bologna Process and to establish the priorities for the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) for the next decade. Currently, the Bologna process includes 48 countries. The Ministerial Conference (the Conference) is the supreme decision-making body on all matters of the structure and development of the Bologna process.

Today, the Process unites 46 countries - all party to the European Cultural Convention and committed to the goals of the European Higher Education Area.
